The Relationship between Work Stress and Health Perception of Nurses

Abstract

|
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between work stress and health perception of nurses.
Methods: The subjects of this study were 149 female nurses in Busan city. The data were collected from September 14 to September 25, 2009 by using a structured questionnaire.
Results: The mean score of work stress was 2.46(range 1-4) and health perception was 2.77(range 1-5). There were no significant difference in the work stress and health perception according to the clinical ladders except inappropriate compensation of work stress. There were statistically significant correlation of over work, interpersonal relations related to work, physical environment and health perception.
Conclusion: This study showed that appropriate compensation for nurses is essential to reduce the work stress.
